Kathryn Carey Obituary /\ At the age of 43, Kathryn E. “Katie” Carey passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022.She was born in Fall River, Massachusetts to the late Michael J. Considine and Carol (Morris) Considine.Katie taught at Sowams Elementary in Barrington for 22 years. She genuinely loved teaching and looked out for each of her students. Katie’s smile was contagious and could brighten up any room. She had an exceptional capacity for empathy and discernment. There was no bounds to her empathy. She enjoyed going to the beach, going on trips, and visiting with her loved ones.

Grace and Charley Carey, to whom she was deeply devoted, are among the many people she leaves behind. She also leaves behind her sister Karen and her husband Jeffrey, her brother Patrick and his wife Shannon, a niece, Isabel Becker, three nephews, Jack Becker, Cash, and Cole Considine, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and her dog, Isla. Previously, she wed William Carey. Your presence among us was a gift; you will not be forgotten.

On Friday, October 7th, 2022, visiting hours will be held from 4pm to 8pm at the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. There won’t even be a funeral. A memorial service will be held the next day, on Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. Information will be available during visitation at the funeral home. After a long and fruitful life, Kathryn Beatenbough Carey passed away in Wilsonville, Alabama, on July 25, 2022. (two weeks short of her 100th birthday).

Mrs. Carey was born on August 8, 1922 to Horace Hughey Beatenbough and LaTrelle Hix Beatenbough in Madison County, Georgia. Mrs. Carey was a dual-degree student at Athens High and the University of Georgia.

She spent half a century instructing adults in Sunday School at Wilsonville Baptist Church, where she also served as clerk for twenty-six years. Mrs. Carey was a longtime member of the Wilsonville Town Library Board and an enthusiastic supporter of the library.
